Abstract

In September 2019, the number of poor people (population with per capita expenditure per month below the Poverty Line) in Bengkulu Province reached 298,004 people (14.91 percent), down by 5,541 people compared to the conditions in September 2018 which were 303,545 people (15.41 people) percent).
The percentage of poor people in urban areas in September 2018 was 14.94 percent, down to 14.13 percent in September 2019. While the percentage of poor people in rural areas in September 2018 was 15.64 percent, down to 15.30 percent in September 2019.
During the period September 2018-September 2019, the number of poor people in urban areas fell by 3,224 people (from 96,742 people in September 2018 to 93,518 people in September 2019), as well as in rural areas decreased by 2,317 people (from 206,803 people in September 2018 to 204,486 people in September 2019).
The role of food commodities towards the Poverty Line is far greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education, and health). Contribution of Food Poverty Line to Poverty Line in September 2019 was recorded at 73.97 percent. This condition has decreased when compared to the conditions in September 2018 which amounted to 74.55 percent.
